Singer 4443 Sewing Machine Review & Giveaway

Happy National Sewing Month!

In honor of National Sewing Month I've teamed up with Tuesday Morning to bring you a video review of the Singer 4443 Heavy Duty sewing machine. We're even giving away an autographed (by me!) machine to one lucky winner!

You could win this autographed machine!

This was my first time ever using this machine and I share my experience with you in this video review. My first impression of the machine was that it was simple, attractive and had some good weight to it.  But the real deal comes when we put it to work!  When I review a new sewing machine I like to use all the basic functions, see if it has any fancy features and then put the stitches to work on a variety of different fabrics.

To get the complete review on the Singer 4443 Heavy Duty sewing machine be sure to watch the video. You will see me put it to the ultimate heavy duty test of sewing through multiple layers of denim. To see how it did click HERE.

I have 14 sewing machines myself (right now!) and although I won't be keeping one of these for myself I was very impressed with the stitch quality, speed and features on this machine. For the lowest price be sure to check it out at your local Tuesday Morning, while supplies last!

Now for the best part-- the giveaway! To enter for your chance to win an autographed Singer 4443 please use the Rafflecopter widget below. This giveaway is only open to U.S. participants and will remain open for a total of 3 weeks. For the complete terms and conditions please refer to the widget below.

{Note: If you want one of these, don't wait to see if you won the giveaway or not because by the time the giveaway is over I'm pretty sure the machines will be sold out!}

Good luck!

Crochet Washcloth Video Tutorial & Yarn Giveaway!

I'm back with a new crochet video tutorial and a yarn giveaway! Thanks to our generous friends at Lion Brand Yarns two lucky winners will each win three skeins of Kitchen Cotton 100% cotton yarn- the perfect warn for this washcloth project! Giveaway details are below. {For the exact colors you'll win watch my video!}

If you are a newbie to crochet you are in for a treat because I took my sweet time filming this tutorial to make sure I covered all the bases. I think you will appreciate it!

This is a great beginner project and they whip up pretty quickly. The best part about crocheting a washcloth is that you get a ton of practice on the same stitch (half double crochet, in this case!) and at the end of all that practice you get a washcloth you can actually use! WIN!

In this video tutorial I teach you how to do a half double crochet stitch in the back loop. Lots of terms but trust me it's simple. You can do it! I even show you a wonky washcloth I made with a bunch of mistakes to show you that if yours looks like that, no worries! It's still a wash cloth and it will work just fine.

The pattern I use in this video is called Serene Spa Washcloth and can be downloaded for free from Lion Brand (after you create a free account with them) HERE.

Click here to watch the step-by-step video tutorial.

Happy hooking!

Tailored Jacket Workshop- Recap Video

I'm finally done with the recap video of the tailoring workshop I attended in Savannah, GA a few months ago with Gentleman Jim! There was so much info to take in that I sure am glad I took a bunch of pictures and video footage to help me remember everything Gentleman Jim taught us over the 3-day workshop.

If you ever find yourself near Savannah, GA be sure to look him up and see about attending one of his workshops. He is currently working on his Fall teaching schedule. You can learn more about Gentleman Jim on his website HERE.  In brief, he is a Master Tailor with 53+ years in the industry. He knows his stuff and enjoys teaching others the tips and tricks he's learned over the years. Definitely a wealth of information! If you do not live close enough to take his classes in person, no worries! He also sells DVDs with his lessons that can be purchased on his website.}

I put together this video to share my experience with you, give you a look at the finished tailored jacket, what pattern I used, and tons of pictures and short video clips from my workshop. Click HERE to watch the video.

I made some mistakes (of course!) but I hope to make my next jacket even better. I feel like I'm armed now with some great new techniques I can use in future garments. Thanks a million, Gentleman Jim!
